ECO-DESIGNING PRODUCTS WITH LESS IMPACT

Eco-design is the primary lever for action for our brands. At Groupe Eram, a product is considered eco-designed if its environmental impact is reduced compared to its conventional version. To reduce a product’s impact, our teams work on its entire life cycle, including:

  • by giving up air travel,
  • by using recycled, bio-based, or innovative materials,
  • by extending the lifespan of our products and enhancing their durability in use,
  • by making them easier to repair and more recyclable.

IN 2024, THE GROUP ACHIEVED AND EXCEEDED ITS TARGET WITH 34.8% OF ECO-DESIGNED PRODUCTS ACROSS ALL BRANDS.

INNOVATION: RECYCLED POLYURETHANE FOAM

Our Research & Development, Quality, and Product teams have developed recycled polyurethane (PU) foams specially designed to improve the fit and comfort of our products, while addressing the environmental challenges that guide our commitments.

From sandals to boots, heels and sneakers, these foams are adapted to the specific characteristics of each type of footwear. Their structure, density and thickness have been defined through a series of fit and wear tests carried out on different types of products (heels and flats) and on a variety of audiences (women, men, children). These tests have enabled us to identify the most relevant combinations to offer our customers optimal comfort from the very first wear.

Made from polyurethane production scraps, it illustrates our desire to combine innovation, responsibility, and customer satisfaction.

IN THE FALL-WINTER 2025 COLLECTION, 31% OF THE SHOE REFERENCES IN OUR STORES ARE DESIGNED WITH THIS SOLE, AND 100% OF THE SESSILE REFERENCES INCLUDE IT.

OVER 50% OF TBS SHOES ARE ECO-DESIGNED

At TBS, more than half of our shoe collections are made from innovative, recycled, and bio-based materials.

The uppers (the top part of the shoe) are mostly made from knit fabric, which is composed of more than 70% recycled polyester, or leather from Leather Working Group (LWG) tanneries, a standard that certifies that leather production is environmentally friendly and socially responsible. With a thickness of 2mm on unlined shoes, this leather is deliberately thicker to extend the life of the pair, which also contributes to its eco-design.

The durability of TBS shoes is also enhanced by the main material used for the soles: rubber. Used since the brand’s creation in 1978, this material is particularly durable and resistant to abrasion, which extends the life of the shoes.

SINCE WINTER 2024, OVER 50% OF THE SHOE RANGE HAS BEEN ECO-DESIGNED, DEMONSTRATING TBS’S COMMITMENT TO A MORE SUSTAINABLE FUTURE.
